Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I drain the water from your spas?
A. First, you must turn off the power to the spa. Second, unscrew the cap from the drain valve and connect your garden hose. Turn the drain valve ½ turn counter-clockwise and slightly pull the drain valve out. The water will now begin to drain out. Warning; do not let the spa water be drained on grass, bushes, or flower beds because the chemical contents may be harmful to your landscape.

2. How do I fill the spa with water?
A. Just take your garden hose, place the outlet side in your spa, open the valve from your nearest water supply, and fill your spa. Depending on your water pressure and spa model, it may take from 30 minutes to a couple of hours

3. How often do I need to check the filter?
A. At least twice a month. Check it for cracks, or tears in the element, and for color. The filter's natural color is white so if you see that it is a light gray color, you may just need to clean the filter. Your Diamante Spas dealer can advise you with a good cleaning method. If the filter is a dark gray or even black in color, you may still be able to clean it, but if the cleaning does not work then you will need to replace it. Your Diamante Spas dealer has replacement filters in stock for you.

4. What kind of chemicals do I need for my spa?
A.  There are many different kinds of spa chemicals on the market. We recommend that you ask your Diamante Spas dealer for advice. Most dealers have the knowledge and experience with spa chemicals and water conditions in their areas. They know what spa chemicals will and will not work with certain water. Also, we recommend that you do not buy or use chemicals purchased at home improvement stores or discount outlets. The salespersons of these stores do not know about the adverse affects or reactions you or the spa may have with these chemicals. Always purchase chemicals that are made for acrylic spas.

5. Are your wood panels treated?
A. Yes, we at the factory both stain and seal the wood. However, you still need to re-apply a coat of sealer at least twice a year. Maybe more depending in the climate where you live. Your Diamante Spas dealer has the same stains and sealer we use on the spas on our factory floor.

6.  What are your Endless Glass Panels?
A. They, are the most durable composite or synthetic panels on the market. These panels are made entirely out of marine-grade gel-coats, resins, and fiberglass. The Endless Glass Panels are made in the same methods used on recreational boats, fishing boats, and multi-million dollar yachts. You can literally kick the Endless Glass Panels and they will not break. The Endless Glass Panels are virtually maintenance-free. If the panels get soiled, just rinse them off with your garden hose and your done. Just think no more sanding, staining, and/or sealing.

7.  How long does it take to heat the water?
A. On a 230v. 50 amp system with a 5.5 kW heater it will take about 6 to 8 hours to get the water from about 60 degrees Fahrenheit from the garden hose to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It will also depend on the spa you have purchased. If you purchased an 8-foot spa, it may take 6 to 8 hours. However, if you purchased a 7-foot or smaller spa then it may take 5 to 7 hours to heat the water.

8.  Are your spas safe?
A.  All of our spas only use components that have passed through the laboratories of either U. L. and/or E. T. L. After the components have passed, they are then tested as a complete unit with our spas. In addition, field inspectors make sure that we are up to the most recent codes performing quarterly surprise inspections.

9.  How much will I expect to pay for electricity per month?
A.This the one question that is the hardest to answer. Due to a lot of factors like the cost of electricity where you live in, what part of the country you live in, how often do you use your spa, how many lights or appliances are running or were left on overnight, and the exposure of the spa to the wind. All of these factors are the variables on the cost to operate your spa. We tell our customers the following overall standard for operating our spas and any other spas on the market, which is about a $1 a day. This will give you a good idea on what to expect. However, some of our Diamante Spas customers have told us that they have experienced an addition on an average of about $20 to $40 a month to their electricity bills. As you can see it varies, but a $1 a day is a good rule of thumb.

10.  How long will the water last, before I would have to drain the spa?
A. This is another question that is hard to answer. It all depends on how many times the spa is used per week, the amount people using the spa, and the care in balancing the water chemistry. There is a formula that can help you estimate on when to change your spa's water. According to an article from one of our industry top magazines, they have simplified a formula that is used for commercial pools and spas.
Here is the formula: take the spa's gallons and divide by 1/3. Use that answer and divide by the number of people using the spa everyday.
Example: the spa's gallons are 500. In addition, there are 2 people using the spa everyday.
   500 divided by 1/3 = 166.66 gallons
   166.66 divided by 2 = 83.33 days
   83.33 divided by 30 = 2.77 months

As you can see this 500-gallon spa being used everyday by 2 people will approximately last them almost 3 months. If you use your spa maybe every other day, your water may last longer. However, remember this formula is only an estimate and is used only to give you an idea. You may have special circumstances or unforeseen situations that may require you to drain your spa's water sooner. You must also remember that you will need to have the water chemistry well balanced for the longest lasting spa water possible. HELPFUL HINTS: TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF SOAPS OR CONTAMINANTS TO THE SPA'S WATER, TRY TO USE THE SAME BATHING SUITS EVERY TIME YOU USE YOUR SPA, TRY TO SHOWER BEFORE USING YOUR SPAS, AND WASH YOUR BATHING SUITS IN THE RINSE CYCLE.
